Oil on canvas
36’ x 42’
2017
This painting was inspired by the beauty of my friend Karla and reflects the complexity of the emotions when you have to move far away from home, leaving family and friends behind to pursuit a better life, mixed emotions that the Mexican population living in the United States know very well. In this portrait I wanted to encapsulate the balance between longing for the past and appreciating the present, portraying a woman who carries her roots with her while forging a path in a new landscape.
